Sarath Abrew who is an appeal court judge appointed by the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has allegedly assaulted his domestic servant with his gun… the irony is that he is the same judge along with justice Eva Wanasundara who gave the controversial verdict barring the arrest of Gotabaya Rajapakse.. !
Meanwhile Supreme Court Justice Sarath Abrew refused to give a statement to Police over an alleged assault of the housemaid, according to Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara.
The woman who was allegedly assaulted filed a complaint with Mount Lavinia Police on June 26. She told police that she had been assaulted with a pistol. She is receiving medical treatment at Colombo South Teaching Hospital at Kalubowila.
Meanwhile, the Police has recorded a statement from another housemaid at Abrew’s house.
This domestic servant had been entrusted with looking after a sick child and the child has frequently assaulted this servant. When the servant has complained this to the judge Abrew, he has assaulted her with a gun..she says. The judge has not allowed her to leave the house after 15 days of her joining to work.
The judge has come to the Kalubowila Hospital several times and influenced the director of the hospital and tried to discharge the servant by force. Currently the servant has been given police protection and prevented the judge of meeting her.
Four such similar assaulting incidents were reported about this judge before. That was against another domestic maid and three police officers.
