53 rehabilitated former LTTE’s were given Gold Chains as a gift at their wedding ceremony.. but one of the grooms have complained that it was Brass instead of Gold
Northern Provincial Council (NPC) together with the Mullaitivu District Secretariat has recently organised a mobile service in a bid to resolve common issues.
However, attention was focused on a written complaint that was presented at the mobile service.
A youth, who had reportedly undergone the rehabilitation programme of the former regime has claimed that after they were released a ceremony was held to give 53 couples away in marriage.
The chief guest at that occasion was UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa.
Each wedded couple had been given a gold chain claiming each chain was made from one sovereign and had also been given an assurance that land to resettle and a livelihood would be provided to them, the youth complained.
Be that as it may, the youth had claimed that while the promises to provide land and a livelihood were not fulfilled, he was shocked to find the chain was only gold coated and was made of brass.

hmmmmmm :)
