Doyel Dawson is a 24-year-old native Sri Lankan.
When she was three years old her family moved to Hong Kong, where she has spent most of her life. Growing up in ‘Asia’s World City’, Doyel developed the necessary resilience to meet the demands of a pulsing and rapidly developing metropolitan.
A proud, intelligent youth, her brown skin and eloquent manner made her stand out,
unfortunately seeing her become the target of serious physical and emotional bullying during her time at school.
In the face of this adversity, she decided to take up freelance modeling, aged 14. Doyel’s maturity and confidence allowed her to quickly expand her network, exposing her to a variety of opportunities at a young age, including working on-set with the likes of Keanu Reeves, in his movie “Man of Tai Chi”, and Scarlett Johnson in “Ghost In The Shell”.
By the age of 18, she discovered her passion for service, and by 23, she had become a hospitality professional of global repute; taking a leap into restaurant management, she oversaw the opening of three venues. Out of the three, two would go on to earn two Michelin stars each. She was also an integral part of “The Pontiac”, one of Asia’s first female-led bars,
which went on to acquire a global ranking during her employment.
She has since left Hong Kong and moved back to Sri Lanka, to pursue her humanitarian career.
She is the President and Co-Founder of Dogs Of Ella, a dog shelter that cares for the countless street dogs in need of help in and around the Badulla District.
Doyel and her father have also opened a humble resort in Diyatalawa, in an effort to raise
the economy by utilizing her network made in the hospitality industry.
She is a talented actress and devout lover of all living things. She hopes to
put Sri Lanka on the map and captivate people across the globe with its rich and enlightening history.
Doyel’s international friends from childhood joke about her being
on a constant presidential campaign because of her loving character and friendly energy.
She is a young visionary unswayed by critics and determined to leave the planet a better place than she found it.
